Relevance:

Human trafficking is the ‘third most profitable trade’ in the world and has reached the scale it has only because of global negligence. Though there has been some action, a full-fledged effort to curtail it institutionally has never been realised. The only concrete actions have been through the actions of committed NGOs which have been mainly to empower those who have been lucky enough to be saved from such ordeals. The government should strive to prevent trafficking and work towards empowering women and children with basic facilities. Strong laws are to be put in place that act as deterrents to anyone participating in such illicit businesses.
