
The Centre was asked by the Supreme Court to respond to a petition that challenges the constitutional validity of the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991. The Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi dispute ended after the court ruled that the land on which the Masjid stood should be handed over to the Hindu community.
