What are the laws against black magic and superstition in India?

The brutal murders of two women as part of “ritualistic human sacrifices” in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala have left the country in shock. According to preliminary probe, the victims were subjected to extreme torture and sexually harassed, their body parts cut into several pieces before they were buried in a pit. Such chilling details of the killings that have emerged in the past few days have sparked a debate about the prevalence of superstitious beliefs, black magic, sorcery and other evil practices in a progressive State like Kerala.
