Relevance: 

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that South Asia is particularly vulnerable to epidemics and infectious diseases. South Asia is the most populated region in the world and poverty levels are too high. Access to sanitation, clean water, hygienic living conditions, healthy food habits and healthcare facilities is challenging, and often exacerbated by the poverty of the region, making the region vulnerable to new emerging infectious diseases.
