U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom downgrades India in 2020 list

India has been downgraded to the lowest position finding itself with countries like China, North Korea, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. This is the first time since 2004 that India has been placed in the “countries of particular concern” category. The downfall has been due to the specific concerns about Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register for Citizens, anti-conversion laws and the situation in J&K.
