Tibetans vote to elect new president of 17th Parliament-in-exile

Tibetans living in exile in Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh and other parts of the country and globe on Sunday came out in huge numbers to cast their ballot to elect the next Sikyong (president) and members of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile. Around 83,000 Tibetan refugees scattered across 26 countries began casting their votes today to elect the President of the Central Tibetan Administration and members of the 17th Tibetan Parliament in what could be considered the most distinct democratic exercise in the world.
