Relevance:
Since, the lockdown due to the pandemic began, the Environment Ministry has cleared massive infrastructure projects, many of which has been opposed by environment scientists and conservationists. The ministry seems to be in a hurry as several mining, industrial and infrastructure projects were cleared by the expert appraisal committee within a month. Further, the National Board of Wildlife which met only once cleared as many as 34 projects inside wildlife sanctuaries and reserves. Approval of these projects show the complicit attitude of the ministry to bypass laws while the country is going through crises.
