Last Friday, a stone idol of Surya, the Sun God, was found in Gummagatta mandal at Kalagodu village of Anantapur district. The granite stone idol is two-foot in height. Historians confirmed that it dates back to 10th century during the period of Nolamba kings. Nolamba kings ruled large parts of Karnataka and some regions of present Andhra Pradesh for over 300 years.
