The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted hugely on women’s’ work and very little has been paid to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the loss of women’s’ work. As per a survey by Azem Premji University and Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy the job losses in rural women is higher than men. The article has highlighted the study of many surveys which have shown that the women workforce faces many difficulties. The article has called for the inclusion of women workforce in MGNEREGA and expanding it as an immediate solution. It has also called for framing a policy for women-specific job creation in skilled occupations in business and new enterprises. The article has also proposed the expansion of health infrastructure in the country where women hold key grass-root level significance.
