Recently, the retired CJI was nominated as Rajya Sabha member. For a judge being appointed for such a position is an unprecedented action. Such appointments raise questions on the independence of the judiciary and the most importantly separation of executive and judiciary. Post-retirement jobs mostly determined by pre-retirement verdicts and this can lead to a blot on the judicial system in India if it continues year after year.
