A parliamentary committee has stated that only three states and five Union Territories have become Kerosene free in spite of UJWALA scheme fulfilling its target of providing eight Crore LPG connections, the committee was upset over the closing of the scheme, according to the committee there was still a large ground remains to be covered, it stated that poor people of general category also needed to be covered under this scheme. Despite the scheme meeting its target a large number of households across the state large segment of people still depend on kerosene.
