The Governor of Nagaland has written a letter to the Chief Minister of Nagaland highlighting the duties which he has from Article 371A of the Constitution of India. In the letter, the Governor has also criticized the state government on law and order collapse and extortion and siphoning of funds meant for development work. Amid this tension, the article has highlighted the need for a peace accord with the insurgent groups. The article has highlighted some of the reasons why the accord has not yet been heralded. Since there is no accord, the state government has little leeway in imposing its will and prevent the blatant extortion that is hampering the development and law and order.
