India’s outreach to Myanmar

India wants to eliminate Mayanmar’s defence dependence from China and it was clearly reflected in India’s multidimensional interests in the country and the deepening of ties between Delhi and Naypyidaw. The recent visit of Chief of the Army Staff Gen. Manoj Naravane and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla to Myanmar underscored two crucial strategies that drive India’s Myanmar policy: engagement with key political actors and balancing neighbors.
