Relevance:
India-US relations have achieved historic gains due to sustained focus and ambition and has great future prospects. India and US relations are anchored in democratic values and the interests are increasingly converging. Both the countries cooperate on range of critical defence issues, from maritime security and counter-terrorism, to defence production and disaster relief. Considering this reality, the US declared India as a Major Defence Partner (MDP) in 2016, putting it at par with Washington’s closest allies and opening the door for procurement of sensitive defence technologies.
