
The central govt. has announced a set of reforms for the farming sector. The reforms includes a Rs. 1 lakh crore fund to finance agriculture infrastructure at the farm gate and produce aggregation points. Other reforms include amendments to the archaic Essential Commodities Act, bypassing the APMC Acts and provisions for farmers to enter into pre-sowing contracts. The news is related to transport and marketing of agricultural produce and issues and related constraints of GS III.
