
Relevance:
In November 2016, the Government of India demonetised Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes with the aim to curb corruption and move India towards a digital economy. However, after more than 3 years digital and cashless economy is still lingering as cash is still prevalent in India. Since cash puts more disposable income in the hands of the poor it is more used than debit/credit cards and net banking.
