Relevance:

With one of the lowest tax-gdp ratio in the world and the current slow down the time is ripe for a direct tax reform. India is still following half a century old tax laws, and the much awaited direct tax code is yet to come. Though the government has taken some progressive steps in this regard  like lowering of corporate taxes etc still a lot needs to be done. The direct tax code needs to be implemented as soon as possible.
