Crop stubble burning has been a major issue for years now. A week before, the Punjab and Haryana government were asked by the the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) to take urgent measures to reduce crop stubble burning. Both Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal states that stubble burning violates the right to a pollution-free environment under Article 21 of the Constitution.
