Approaching the misinformation storm

Today almost everyone of us use social media networks like Twitter, WhatsApp and Facebook. Everyday we come across numerous news in these platforms and before cross-checking the authenticity of it we start sharing and forwarding and spreading it. What we do not think or understand is the difference between a news and a opinion. These social media platforms are not news outlets and hence have no journalistic norms. In these platforms, anyone can say anything on any any at any point of time. And all these are actually opinions rather than being a news. As a result, much of the ‘news’ available on these platforms is biased. These opinions even has all the potentialities of influencing outcome of an election. This editorial speaks on misinformation storm.
