
Relevance:
The Essential Commodity Act of 1955 alows the Central Government to maintain or increase supplies of any essential commodity or make it available at fair prices. The Central Government can regulate or prohibut the production, supply, distribution and sale of that commodity under the Act. The government recently brought masks and sanitisers under the ambit of the Act to avail these products at a fair price.
