Agriculture in India is a unsustainable and loss-making profession. Close to 70% of India’s population still live in rural areas and are involved in agricultural and allied activities. Agriculture in India has history of thousands of years and due to this productivity of land has reduced significantly. In addition to this due to increase in population land has become fragmented. There is need to move people from agriculture to other sector and introduce new farming techniques to increase productivity and production to feed the ever increasing population.
