Recently a PIL has been filed against seeking legal action against one of the former judges of Supreme Court Markandey Katju for insulting the Supreme Court, the PIL also urged the Supreme Court for laying down broad guidelines on the issue of public criticism of Courts and maligning the judiciary. The issue of contempt of court was recently news when a senior lawyer of Supreme Court was punished for contempt of court. There needs to be line drawn between fair criticism of judgments of the courts and contempt of court.
