The National Education Policy (NEP) announced on July 29 aims at overhauling India’s educational system and make India a global knowledge superpower. The NEP 2020 is based on principles of critical thinking and creativity visualizes a system of education which is free from external and political interference. This policy offers pedagogues to freely design their pedagogical approaches within approved framework. India scored a low score of 0.352 in the international Academic Freedom Index (AFI) which considered eight components to evaluate the scores.
