Aadhaar is a unique 12 digit identification nu ber issued to Indian citizens by Govt. of India. Aadhaar has become a common feature of public distribution system and other welfare programmes in India . mandatory Aadhaar authentification has been used in India to plug leakages. However, while it was meant to exclude leakages and intermediaries, it has actually excluded true beneficiaries of the welfare programmes. It is high time that Aadhaar is reevaluated and its shortcomings are sorted out.
