40% of toilets surveyed by CAG in government schools non-existent, unused

In September 2014, the Ministry of Human Resource Development launched the Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan for meeting the mandate of Right to education Act that there must be separate toilets for girls and boys in each school. Consequently, 1.4 lakh toilets were built by 53 CPSEs, but it is being claimed that nearly 40% of those surveyed by the CAG were found to be either unused or partially constructed or even there is no traces of existence.
