The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has announced that it has received 5 lakh applications under the PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme for street vendors. The scheme is a part economic relief package announced in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. The scheme entitles street vendors a sum of Rs.10000 as capital loans for re-establishing their business, which they can pay back in one year. The scheme targets to benefit 50 lakh street vendors once they resume business after the lockdown.
